Chat widget: Appearance and content

How to customise the chat widget's look and content. See also: Installation, Pre-chat form, Proactive messages, Lead capture form.

Content & messaging

Everything is configured per agent in Web channel settings β†’ Configure:

  • Greeting β€” the short headline on the home screen (e.g. "Hi πŸ‘‹").
  • Welcome message β€” the paragraph under the greeting.
  • Starter chips β€” one-tap suggested questions (one per line); tapping sends it as a message.
  • Input placeholder β€” the hint inside the empty message box.
  • Reply time β€” a soft "usually replies in ~5 min" note.

Changes apply to every site using that agent's key β€” no need to touch the embed code.

Branding & button style

  • Avatar β€” image URL, an iconify name (e.g. lucide:bot), or an emoji.
  • Primary colour β€” accent colour for the button and bubbles. (Tip: also set data-color on the script tag so the button paints instantly before the chat loads.)
  • Cover image β€” hero image at the top of the open chat, or keep the default gradient.
  • Button style (FAB) β€” round (classic bubble) or pill (a wider button with avatar + agent name that auto-collapses). Pill drives more first messages on marketing pages.
  • Hide "Powered by Flutch" β€” toggle the footer attribution.
