The tags management system allows organizing knowledge base articles into hierarchical categories for convenient search and navigation. Tags are grouped into categories, which can be created and edited.

- From knowledge base list: open needed base β "Tags" tab

Tag system structure
Categories
Main principles:
- Categories serve to group related tags
- There's a special "Uncategorized" category for ungrouped tags
- Categories can be renamed and deleted
- When deleting a category, all its tags move to "Uncategorized"
Tags
- Created within categories or without category
- Can be dragged between categories via drag-and-drop
- Support name editing
- Have delayed deletion (3 seconds to cancel)

Left panel - Categories
Display:
- List of all categories with tag count in each
- Special "Uncategorized" category always at top
- Active category highlighted with color
- "Add category" button at bottom of panel
Category actions:
- Click on category - switch to viewing its tags
- Edit button βοΈ - change name
- Delete button ποΈ - delete with 3-second delay
- Cancel button β - cancel deletion
Right panel - Tags
Display:
- Selected category name in header
- All tags of selected category as cards
- "Add tag" button in header
Tag actions:
- Drag & Drop - drag tags between categories
- Edit βοΈ - change tag name
- Delete ποΈ - delete with undo option
- Cancel deletion β - within 3 seconds
Main usage scenarios
Creating category structure
- Click "Add category" at bottom of left panel
- Enter category name (e.g., "Products", "Services", "FAQ")
- Press Enter or click outside field to save
- Repeat to create other categories
Creating tags
- Select category in left panel (or "Uncategorized")
- Click "Add tag" in right panel
- Enter tag name
- Press Enter to save
Organizing tags by categories
- Create needed categories
- Drag tags from one category to another via drag-and-drop
- To move to "Uncategorized", drag tag to corresponding item
Editing names
- Click edit button βοΈ next to category or tag
- Change name in appeared field
- Press Enter or click outside field to save
- Press Escape to cancel changes
Deleting elements
- Click delete button ποΈ
- You have 3 seconds to cancel - click β
- After 3 seconds element will be permanently deleted
Working features
"Uncategorized" category
- Always present in system
- Cannot be renamed or deleted
- Intended for tags without clear category
- Displayed first in list
Drag & Drop for tags
- Works only for saved tags (not for creating ones)
- Drag tags to categories in left panel
- Visual indication shows where tag will be moved
- Movement happens automatically when releasing
Delayed deletion
- When clicking delete button, 3-second timer starts
- Element marked as "being deleted" with cancel option
- After 3 seconds permanent deletion occurs
- Can cancel deletion by clicking β button
Edit mode
- When creating or editing, input field gets focus
- Text automatically selected for quick change
- Enter - save, Escape - cancel
- During editing drag-and-drop unavailable
Interface states
Data loading
During loading, spinner is displayed with "Loading tags..." message.
Data updating
- Loading indicators shown during operations
- Buttons blocked during operation execution
- Animated spinner next to saving elements
Empty category
If selected category has no tags, empty area is displayed with option to add first tag.
No category selected
Message "Select category to view tags" in right panel.
Limitations
Names
- Category and tag names cannot be empty
- Extra spaces at beginning and end are removed
- No length restrictions, but brevity recommended
Operations
- Cannot delete "Uncategorized" category
- Cannot rename "Uncategorized" category
- Interface blocked during data updates
Drag & Drop
- Works only in modern browsers with HTML5 support
- Unavailable for elements in edit mode
- Unavailable for temporary (unsaved) elements
Connection with other sections
Articles
- When creating or editing articles, you can select tags from created categories
- Tags used for filtering and searching articles
- Deleting tag doesn't delete articles, but removes tag from them
Search
- Tags participate in knowledge base search
- Well-structured tags improve search quality
- Agents can use tags for more precise information selection
Best practices
Structure planning
- Think through categories in advance based on content themes
- Use no more than 5-7 main categories
- Create categories from general to specific
Naming
- Use short, clear category names
- Tags should be specific and descriptive
- Avoid meaning duplication in names
Organization
- Regularly review tag structure
- Merge similar tags
- Delete unused tags
Common problems and solutions
Tag/category doesn't save
Cause: Empty name or technical issues Solution: Ensure name isn't empty, try again
Dragging doesn't work
Cause: Element in edit mode or browser doesn't support Drag & Drop Solution: Finish editing, use modern browser
Accidentally deleted element
Solution: Within 3 seconds click cancel button β
Tags don't appear in articles
Cause: Possibly tags weren't assigned to articles Solution: Open article editing and add needed tags
